Donate Your Shadow To Focus Ireland

Yes, you read that right.

Dublin-based homeless charity Focus Ireland have launched their #InTheShadows campaign to help shine a light on homelessness this October.

'Over 1,500 children and their families are living in B&B’s and hotels.  These are the hidden homeless.

#InTheShadows exists to show solidarity for people living in the shadows and raise vital funds to combat family homelessness.' 

Donate your Shadow Selfie - #InTheShadows

The charity are urging people to take part by 'donating their shadows' in just 3 simple steps;

Step 1:

Take a photo of your shadow (see photo above) and upload your 'Shadow Selfie' to Twitter and/or Facebook with the message:

'I'm shining a light on family homelessness this October with Focus Ireland
#InTheShadows'

Make sure to include the hashtag!


Step 2:

Text ‘SHINE’ to 50300 to donate €4 to Focus Ireland.

My Shadow Selfie for #InTheShadows

 Shine A Light Night took place last Friday (October 16th), also as part of the campaign, where people in both Dublin and Cork slept rough (on the grounds of Christchurch Cathedral and in Cork City Gaol) to raise awareness and funds.  Numerous businesses throughout Ireland also took part by sleeping rough at work - in the car park, lobby, on the roof etc.  Donated Shadow Selfies so far were projected onto Christchurch Cathedral for the night, too.
